The building blocks for a green, weed free lawn is our Five-Step Lawn Care Program. This yearly program is adjusted to suit the different elements and issues that come with each season. Consistency is key – Each step is essential in creating a year-round, healthy lawn and has been developed over the years to give our clients the best lawn on the street.
Spring Treatment (Sept – Mid Nov)
This treatment involves getting rid of winter weeds and encourages your lawn to burst out of its winter dormancy.
Weed Control: While the pre-emergent herbicide stops winter grass from germinating along with many broadleaf weeds, any weeds that do germinate are eradicated with the post emergent herbicide application, setting your lawn up for a weed free year.
Fertilisation: A high quality balanced nitrogen & potassium fertiliser blend will help rejuvenate your lawn from its winter dormancy, accelerating growth and returning it to a healthy, dark green looking lawn.
The initial phase of grub prevention also takes place in this treatment as a residual insecticide is applied.
Summer Treatment (Mid Nov – Jan)
This treatment ensures your grass is strong and resilient as insects, weeds and fungal diseases appear for the summer season.
Grub Control: An outbreak of grubs in the summer months can destroy all progress made in Spring. Both residual and knock down insecticides are used in this treatment to keep grubs and lawn army worms from ravaging your lawn. You can learn more about grubs here
Wetting agent: In summer time, the use of a wetting agent is essential. They are specifically designed to quickly move water into the soil profile and increase your lawns ability to retain that water.
Fertilisation in this period of hot, humid weather helps your lawn retain its vibrant, green colour.
Weed control: There should be little to no broadleaf weeds in the lawn. The pre-emergent herbicides stop the germination of Summer grass and Crowsfoot, two notoriously difficult weeds to eradicate when they get into a lawn.
Late Summer/ Early Autumn Treatment (Feb – Mid April)
This treatment helps to maintain your lawn during the high stress period of the years hottest months.
Weed Control: Pre-emergent herbicide acts as a barrier that prevents the growth of winter grass which will generally germinate sometime between March and May.
Fertilisation: Combined with the wetting agent, this fertiliser application provides your grass with a reliable and consistent source of all the essential nutrients it requires.
Grub Control: The ongoing threat of grubs and army worms are prevented with another application of residual and knock down insecticides.
Soil amendments at this time of year improve root growth and disease resistance. Plant growth promoters optimise plant response in times of stress.
Autumn Treatment (Mid April – June)
This treatment provides nutrition and strengthens your lawn to cope with the stress of the upcoming cooler winter months.
Fertilisation: Possibly the most important application of slow release fertiliser of the year. Promoting grass and root growth in Autumn is pivotal in order for your lawn to survive the colder winter months.
Weed Control: The continued use of pre-emergent herbicide protects the lawn from winter grass and the majority of broadleaf weeds.
Soil conditioners in this treatment play a key role in conditioning the plant prior to the onset of winter and are designed to maximise nutrient uptake into the plant.
Winter Treatment (July – August)
This treatment is designed to catch any winter weeds early, before they take over your lawn.
Weed Control: This is probably the most important treatment when it comes to the control of weeds. Winter grass will have been kept at bay by the continued use of our pre-emergent herbicide but this is the time to spray newly emerging winter weeds before they start to take over your lawn. Click here to learn more about the different weeds that could be infesting your lawn.
Soil Conditioners in this application help with root stimulation and promoting overall plant health.
Fertilisation keeps your lawn as strong as it can be over the winter months and helps promote a fast green up once the warmer temperatures arrive in Spring.
